I think it would be cool to see a Jewish redeemed villain character where part of their redemption is asking for forgiveness on Yom Kippur
I would love to see a Jewish character redemption arc that is a proper teshuva narrative.
#the congregation finishes the standard vidui but then everything pauses because the villain is still going#with ever more specific sins that they know they’ve committed#and gradually the crowd begins to join in with them again on the endless list to show that they’re all one community no matter what#WE have assassinated princes WE have broken down city walls WE have overrun kingdoms with the creatures of darkness#and hearing that acceptance means more to them than anything else that day and keeps them able to stay on the derekh going forward
The villain breaks down weeping as they circle their most shameful acts. The community calmly waits for them. After the service, an old woman brings them a small plate of homemade tea biscuits. A man brings hibiscus lemonade. A new bat mitzvah holds out a date, in the process of chewing another.
The villain accepts all of these things and dutifully eats them. They will stay on the derekh, for these people if not for themself.
